Singer Ellie Rose has grown up in London and started singing and creating music from a young age. Taking advantage of her London surroundings, Ellie has performed 300+ shows and is branching out across the country. I interviewed Ellie during her Coffee House Tour, discussing pineapple love, festivals and future events.

You are from London, do you think this is the best place you could have been growing up in terms of your career?

ELLIE: I think its awesome because the venues are very accessible, you are a very small fish in a big pond when you grow up in the city. I have liked it.

Have you had a lot of opportunity to gig in London? Do you have a favourite venue in London?

E: I have done a lot of gigs in London, about 300! My favourite is probably the Bedford in Balham, its really nice, it’s a pub but has an area called the Globe Theatre, so it’s a really small globe. Its awesome.

Where would your career highlight be to play?

E: The Round house in Camden, I love it there. Or Shepherds Bush Empire, my first ever gig was seeing Katy Perry there.

You have supported a number of bands and musicians who was the best to work with?

E: I really liked the Rixton support gigs, they were a fun young girl crowds. Dan Wilson who wrote ‘Someone Like You’ with Adele, they were really cool gigs, and that was at St Pancras old Church which was beautiful.

When you are on tour with them do you get to spend time with the bands?

E: Yeah! I have spent quite a bit of time with both Dan and Rixton. All very nice people, the Rixton lads are lovely.

Have you had much opportunity to play outside of the UK?

E: I have recently got back from LA and I played a show there which was cool, but not much other than that.

I noticed your video Nature of the beast is Betty Boop! What was the idea behind using her character?

E: My big sister Lexi, loved Betty Boop and there are certain cartoon images in the jungle. So ‘Nature of the Beast’ takes part in the jungle and so it came to mind to use Betty Boop.

Where do you take your inspiration from when writing your songs?

E: Usually what I am going through, or what my friends are going through. They are very much influenced by the latest events so I need to write quickly!

Is there an album being released soon?

E: I am hoping to release an EP soon.

So far you have played Isle of White, Dot to Dot Festival, Glastonbury on the BBC intro stage, have you got a favourite?

E: Glastonbury was amazing! The show was really fun. It is such a big festival though; the vibe was really lovely. Theres a festival called Greenbelt which is probably my favourite vibe, it’s just got really nice people, it’s just super chilled.

With Glastonbury being this week it is only right to ask you how that experience was?

E: I had the best time, I was wearing my mums dress and the BBC Introducing stage was really lovely. I just hopped up on there, on my own and there was a huge crowd, it was a really amazing vibe, I loved it. Its such a huge festival so I was really lucky. Just me and my guitar, I was so scared but it was good!

Do you have a festival style regarding your look and outfits?

E: I think I always dress as if I am going to a festival. I only really wear the same shoes which are combat boots, so I like the whole bo-ho look really. I like glitter at festivals, lots of glitter everyone loves glitter.

Recently you have been a part of a soundtrack for Formula E, how did you get involved in this?

E: Formula E actually came indirectly to me through a friend called Vin Goodwin, but they contacted me and asked if I wanted to get involved. I love Formula 1 and motor racing, but Formula E is great as its eco-friendly and at Battersea park! It will be great, apparently my name is played on Capital Radio everyday promoting it!

What did you have to do?

E: We went to Metropolis; I have never worked there before so it was really fun. I hung out with a couple of the acts and had some fun!

You are very open about your love for all things pineapple but what is the best pineapple item you have seen?

E: I have been gifted a few pineapple items which is amazing. I have a really cool little festival bag which a glitter pineapple and then its shaped in a pineapple, so that’s cool because I can put my business cards in it and prance around! Also a pineapple lilo when I was in LA.

Do you have any further plans after the Coffee House Tour?

E: I have Formula E the week after and then focusing on getting some music released!
